Booked your Breast Screening?

Anyone registered with a GP as female will be invited for NHS breast screening every 3 years between the ages of 50 and 71. You’ll get a letter in the post inviting you. If you’re a trans man, trans woman or are non-binary you may be invited automatically, or you may need to talk to your GP surgery or call the local breast screening service to ask for an appointment.

3 years ago, only 63% of those invited from our practice attended for a mammogram, with those invited for the first time being the least likely to attend at only 36% attending.

1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Breast Screening aims to find breast cancers early. It uses an X-ray examination called a mammogram that can find cancers when they’re too small to see or feel. If detected early, treatment is more successful and there’s a good chance of recovery.

If you haven’t booked your appointment yet, please call 01752 431652 or email plh-tr.plymouthbreastscreening@nhs.net.

Don’t delay, breast screening saves lives.
