Winter Fuel Payment Scam Warning

We’ve been informed of a scam targeting people eligible for Winter Fuel Payments, especially older or vulnerable individuals.

Fraudsters are sending fake texts, emails or calls pretending to be from government departments like DWP or HMRC, asking you to “apply” for the payment by entering personal or bank details.

• Important: You do not need to apply. Most people receive this payment automatically.
• The government will never ask for your bank details by text, email or phone.
• Do not click links in suspicious messages.
