Woolwell Roadworks
We have been made aware of an upcoming roadworks scheme which will impact patients attending our Woolwell Site.
All information about the scheme is provided by Plymouth City Council and is referred to as ‘The Woolwell to The George scheme’, their website says the scheme “has aims to alleviate congestion at the bottleneck between Woolwell Roundabout and The George, on the A386 Tavistock Road.”
To quickly summarise, the work is due to commence Wednesday 11 September and is expected to take about 12 months to complete, it will include changes in speed limits, and closures of some roads and lanes. While the impact will vary depending on where you are visiting us from, we think initially it will most effect those accessing Woolwell from the Central Plymouth Side of Tavistock Road.
Arrangements explain that there will be no right turn from Tavistock Road northbound onto Woolwell Road, Woolwell Road closed westbound (towards Woolwell Roundabout), All Woolwell traffic to exit via Woolwell Crescent onto Tavistock Road and that Tavistock Road southbound will be reduced down to one lane (with Eco Way bus stop closed).
The works are said to be ‘very likely’ to impact traffic and result in delays, particularly during peak times. We advise to give yourself extra travel time for your appointments and wherever possible to check your journey in advance.
We know these kinds of works can be frustrating and we apologise for the inconvenience. We also want to remind our patients that works like these are entirely out of our control and we are unable to offer advice about, or make any changes to the scheme.
