Have you ordered your repeat prescription?

We know Christmas can be a busy time, but we want to remind everyone to add ordering and collecting their prescriptions to their to-do lists.

Our practice and most pharmacies will have different opening hours over Christmas and New Year period and will be closed on 25 December and 26 December, then again over the New Year period on 1 January 2024, making it more challenging for patients to access medicines at short notice.

We advise ordering any repeat prescriptions that are due before or during the Christmas and New Year period no later than Wednesday 18 December. It’s best to plan ahead and ensure you do not run out over the Christmas closures, it’s important to keep taking your regular medications and now is the perfect time to check your stocks.

NHS 111 received around 20,000 calls from people who needed repeat prescriptions over Christmas each year, making it the second-highest reason for calling during that period.

Ordering your repeat prescription is quick and easy, you can use our website, the NHS app or online services such as SystmOnline.

Please remember that some controlled medications cannot be prescribed early, so please ensure you are closely monitoring your supplies and get in touch if you may run out over the Christmas period.
