Hot weather and Medication
By now, we’re hoping you’ve heard the usual advice: drink plenty of water, use sunscreen, and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day. (If not, consider this your reminder!
)
What many people don’t realise is that some medications can affect how your body copes with heat. Certain medicines can make you more sensitive to high temperatures, reduce sweating, increase the risk of dehydration, or affect your body’s ability to regulate temperature.
If you take regular medication, please take extra care during hot weather. Stay well hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and pay attention to signs of heat exhaustion such as dizziness, headaches, nausea, or unusual fatigue.
If you’re unsure whether your medication could affect you in the heat, speak to your pharmacist or a member of our team for advice.
Stay safe and keep cool!
