Online Services

To ensure managing your health is as easy as possible, Online Services are provided by the NHS App, SystmOnline* as well as many other third party providers.

GP online services allow you to access a range of services via your computer, mobile phone or tablet. Once you have signed up you will be able to;

  • renew or order repeat prescriptions online
  • view parts of your GP record, including information about medication, allergies, vaccinations, previous illnesses and test results.
  • book or cancel appointments online (subject to availability)

You can of course still contact the practice by telephone, by submitting an online consultation through our website, or in person at the surgery reception desk. You do not need to be an Online Services user to be able to submit an Online Consultation.

More information, including ‘how to’ leaflets and videos of patients and why they are using online services, are available at www.nhs.uk/gponlineservices or see our patient leaflet.

*SystmOnline is the Online Service provided by our Clinical System supplier and access is directly managed by the Practice.

How to sign up

Patients wishing to register for the first time on SystmOnline need only sign up for the NHS App. We can then arrange your upgrade to SystmOnline Access should this be required.

Registering on the NHS App means there are no forms to fill in and you will have your identity securely verified for us removing the need for you to visit the surgery in person.

Alternatively, if you are unable to use the NHS App option, you can:

  • Complete the online form here, PRINT it and bring to the surgery along with your identity documents.
  • Visit the surgery reception and collect a form for completion

Registering via the NHS App takes about 10 minutes.

Registering solely with SystmOnline, typically takes 10-14 days after you have attended the surgery with the required documentation to confirm your identity.

Our Online Consultation Service is available through our website and does not require you to be registered for online services. You can submit all medical and admin requests this way.

Proxy Access - Accessing Online Services for someone else

Proxy Access – Accessing Online Services for someone else

Children aged 12 to 15 years of age

Please review the NHS Guidance here.

Children aged 11 or over are usually considered to have the capacity to consent, or refuse access, unless for example they have a medical condition or learning disability that affects their understanding. You may be granted access to all or part of your child’s record if they are age 12-15. You will not be able to access their full medical record without their consent.

Proxy access will stop automatically when a child reaches 15 years of age.

To request Online Services Proxy Access for a child age 0-11 please complete the online form here, PRINT it and bring to the surgery along with your identity documents.

Children age 15+

To request Online Service Proxy Access to a child age 15 and over, please follow the Adult age 18+ guidance.

Adults age 18+

Please collect an Online Services Proxy Access registration form from the surgery reception. Both the Proxy AND the Patient will need to attend in person to confirm their identities and the Patient will need to confirm they fully understand what access they are granting to the proxy. If the Patient is unable to consent, please contact the surgery to discuss the options available.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ’s for Online Services

What if I have a technical issue?

The practice cannot help you with technical issues however we direct patient to the provider of the service to offer support their to you. For example, if you are experiencing issues with the NHS App, we will direct you to the NHS App support page. If you need support from our most commonly used providers there are some links detailed here to get you started:

Do I need to use Online Services?

You don’t need to use Online Services at all, but we do recommend using online services if you can. We understand that online services may not work for some patients, whether that be because of circumstance, or for even just preference, and there is no intention of making online services mandatory.

Can I share my profile with someone else?

Sharing your profile with someone else is called “Proxy”, and there are a lot of considerations before you decide if this is the right move for you. We always suggest patients read * before considering Proxy Access. If you still want to enable proxy access there are steps we require from both parties, contact the practice for more information on proxy access

Can I register if I share an email address with someone else?

You can still register however we would NOT recommend this option. Secure log in details and personal medical information would be sent to your registered email address. If you choose to register with a shared email account, you accept the risk of your data being accessed by anyone else who has access to the email account.

I don’t have any Photo ID, can I still register?

Unfortunately, we are unable to register patients for Online Services without Photo ID, this is to ensure the security of patient medical records. The only exception is when a member of staff has personally known the patient for 2 years and can identify them on sight and therefore vouch for their identity.

Acceptable forms of Photo ID are:
Passport
UK driving license (full or provisional)
UK biometric residence permit (BRP)
UK residence card
UK application registration card (ARC)
CitizenCard
European driving licence (full)
European national identity card
a valid UK entry clearance visa sticker
Voter Authority Certificate
